The scenario of economic reform drafted by the Federal Government of Czechoslovakia in 1990 became
the main document debated in the then Federal Assembly.  The scenario, or script, therefore became
the main metaphor to describe the immediate future. During the discourse, the deputies talked about who
was the director, who would play what roles, what structure the film or theatre performance would have and,
finally, how it would be received by its public. Another conspicuous feature of the discourse was the constant
emphasis on the radicality of the scenario as an important feature of future reforms. The reform ethos took hold
of the deputies across the parties. The forms of description of our reality and future correspond to the forms of
the imagination of the period and the dominant methods of depiction. The quality of the scenario can be
deducted from its implementation  reviews are to be found elsewhere.
